With Guitar Hero – On Tour, Activison showed that the rhythm game formula could work on a handheld, using the Guitar Hero Grip to put a guitar in the player’s hands. On Tour: Decades uses this same formula, now taking players on a whistle stop tour of the rock and roll landscape, providing the best hits from the 1970s to modern day. Current artists such as Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World join rock legends like Bon Jovi, Queen and R.E.M, taken from four decades of music.
A selection of career paths are on hand for Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar and Guitar Duel, each with their own individual storylines to work through. Players can also customise their chosen characters with clothes and accessories taken from across the decades. In a feature new to the series, two players are now able to stream tracks between Decades and the original On Tour, playing songs together from either version of the game.
